A government agency called the "Abnormal Threat Response Force" has lost contact with an agent, and they now have to send someone to find out what happened.
"You awake Matt?"
"Huh? Huh? Oh yeah yeah I'm awake."
Matt opened his eyes briefly to give off the appearance that he was actually paying attention, but the handler didn't seem too impressed.
"Agent Gray was sent to this area about three weeks ago to investigate murders."
"Murders? Isn't this police work?" Matt said.
"I'm getting to that," said the handler. "Anyway the victims had cuts on on their neck and limbs, but when they were taken to morgues the victims would vanish when the staff wasn't looking."
"So have the staff look more often?" Matt joked.
"I really enjoy your sense of humor Agent, but, last time I checked, you weren't paid to crack jokes."
"Let me guess. I am being paid to travel to the area, find Agent Gray, find the murderers, and call in the task force if necessary." Matt snarked.
"....Yes," Said the handler.
"You could have just told me that to begin with. Where's my gun?"
The handler opened up her desk and laid a P250 on the table."
"I hoped for something bigger." Matt said.
"There are civilians where you are going, so watch what you're shooting" the handler said.
"I know. I know," said Matt.
"I mean it." said the handler.
Agent Matt picked up the gun, and then he walked to the door and put his hand on the knob.
"You look nice in that dress," Matt said.
"Goodbye agent," the handler said in the most monotone voice she could possibly manage.
There was a gentleman in a suit waiting outside in the hallway. Agent Matt passed him and they began walking together.
"You got my papers Carl?" Matt asked.
"Plane ticket, and on-site instructions, maps, passwords to databases, and all the like."
Carl passed the paperwork to him in a folder.
"I don't suppose there's a license to kill in here?"
"Oh but then I would be too nice."
