The Transcendental Number
Pi guides the moon and the stars.
It waits silently to be discovered
through the lens of a telescope.
It can't be written, or calculated.
The sharpest minds can never know it.
Yet it's pre-existence gives us hope.
Long ago Pi dashed all dreams
of knowing anything exactly,
of knowing everything absolutely.
Yet by finding it's mystery,
we find in ourselves,
a spark beyond mortality.
For how can we mere worms
born from primordial mud
formed by survival's plight
comprehend with demonstrable proof
the movements of those heavenly bodies
that fly above us unseen at night.
