“Sorry guys, this is AJ.” The 3 guys say “hey” in unison. Andy walks over to me and gestures for me to follow him. He walks me over to the first guy who had short brown hair and brown eyes. He was the shortest out of them all and was also quiet tan. Well, they all were. “This is Bill.” We shake hands and he says, “nice shirt.” I look down for I totally forgot what I was wearing. It’s a gray shirt with Marty the Martian on it. I got it just a few days ago. “Thanks.” I say to him as I look around to see the other guys staring at us.

The kid nearest him who was just waxing his board came up to Bill and shoved the wax into his hand. “Stop flirting and get waxing, who knows how much time we have left!” The guy looks at me. “Oh, sorry. I’m being rude. My name’s Jake.” “Hey.” I said as I looked at him. Just like Andy, he had long, bleach blonde hair. He’s got brown eyes and has a few freckles covering his cheeks. Jake notices me looking for Andy and he says, “He’s talking with Terk. They’ll be back in a few minutes.”

"Okay." I said as I sat down on the sand. I opened my Coke and started to drink it when Jake sits down next to me and starts to speak. "Your new here right?" I nod my head and look over at him. "Yeah, I figured. Haven't seen you around much.  Only in the mornings.” That stunned me. He actually noticed me? I’ve never seen him before, how has he seen me? Jake saw my puzzled expression and continued. “Yeah, I usually see you go down near the boardwalk and then after a few minutes you turn around. Why do you do that? ” He looks at me, waiting for a reply. “I, uh, watch the surfers over there. I think it’s cool. The whole surfing thing. I just wish I could do it though.”

“Why? It’s not that hard. It takes a lot of practice though but you cou--” I stop him in mid-sentence. “No, no it’s not that. I’m not afraid to try, I ... just ... can’t. Period. My parent’s won’t allow it. Not even for a second.” “Oh.” He says as he scratches his head. “It’s pretty popular up here ... especially at this beach.  I’m pretty new to the area as well, it’ll be 2 years in a few months.” “Oh, um, cool.” I said, not very interested. “Hey, I’ll uh, be right back.” Jake says as he gets up to go talk to Bill. I take a sip of my Coke and look out into the ocean, the sun nearly setting in its place in the clear blue sky.

BritJFlax I'm still adding to this (& I'll probably take out a few things. ) It's a story about a girl who just moved near the beach (well practically ON the beach) & is intrigued by these people (well teens) [which you can probably tell by the title of what they do] so I'm going to try & make this work ... it was just a random thought I got today & I'm deciding to flow with it! ... I'll be open for people to help but not just yet ... I need to see where I can take it & then if I feel I don't know what to do with it I'll let people join in! :)
