Immediately after I get in the car, Raven nudges me.
"Who was that guy you were talking to?" She asks, waiting expectantly for an answer.
"A friend of Ryder's," I mumble as I get buckled up.
"Oh, the cute one you got icecream all over?" She asks, nudging me again.
"Yes, he's the guy I got icecream on," I tell her, ignoring her implications that he's cute. 'For God's sake, why does everyone think that except me?'
"He has a pretty good looking friend," she states as she pulls the car out of the parking spot. My cheeks redden a little at the thought of him and she, of course, catches me. "What? Do you like him?"
My face reddens further. I can feel my ears burning and I silently, I hope that my hair is covering them. "No."
To be honest, I'm not sure what I feel towards him. Sure, he looks really good, but do I like him? I don't know; I don't think I do.
Raven nudges me once more, forcing me out of my thoughts. "I was talking to you."
"Oh," I mumble. "What'd you say?"
"I asked what your plans were for later. I'm going to a friend's house," she explains, rolling her eyes at me.
"Elliot asked me to go to dinner with him," I say under my breath, as quick as I can, hoping she won't hear me. Inside, I long to go invisible. Outside, however, I just shrug.
"Oooh," is all she says in response. She grins at me; I scowl at her in response. "Loosen up, Mills. I'm kidding."
I spend the rest of the car ride ignoring her in hopes that she'll get the point and not bring up my guy friends anymore. She doesn't talk, either; she just stares at the road ahead, drumming her fingers against the steering wheel in time to the song playing on the radio.
