I woke up. The sun was shining for the first time since June. The cold November air chilled me to the bone. "You kinda scare me when you do that," said Zane.
"I'm not surprised," I replied.
"Here," he said, handing me a pill. "Damn good painkillers if you ask me."
I popped the pill into my mouth.
"It should work in about fifteen minutes. Get ready for a little heartburn though."
"In case you were wondering, the Shadows disappeared sometime after you went unconscious. I have no idea why though."
"I might have a good idea," said a voice.
We both turned to see a man with a medium sized goatee. "The Shadows disappeared because Timothy has a strong mind and will power. They grow very weak to a signal it gives out once the strong mind goes dead," he explained. "That is why the Shadows ran."
"Who are you?" I asked.
"My name is Lucius. I am another survivor of the invasion."
"Where do you're allgiances lie?" Zane questioned.
"I really don't have any. I help anyone who is destined."
"Someone like me," I muttered.
"Okay then. I guess you're safe from us." Zane sheathed his sword. "Okay, we have to go."
"Grab my shirt"
This is crazy, I thought. Lucius and I grabbed his shirt.
"Hang on for your life." We then were lunged into a portal to a new world.
