It took a few seconds for me to realize that, one, I had been lying in the backseat of my own car and two, Thing was driving.
That had me alert in no time.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing?!"
Thing didn't even turn around to acknowledge me.
"I 'think' I'm driving. We have got a destination, you know."
"Where's that?" I muttered, peeved that he was operating my beloved vehicle with no effort whatsoever.
Bob needed to be taken care of. You always had to ease the brakes and watch the clutch, shift gears with a gentle hand to keep it from sticking.
"I've recruited you for a reason. We're heading to where the veil is weakest so that you can start bringing some of our soldiers through."
Soldiers? This just got to a whole new level.
"Wh-what? How do I do that?"
"Eh, I'm sure you'll figure it out."
That was not very reassuring.
Not. At. All.
If all of those military-grade EMF detectors orbiting the Earth on satellites caught this activity I was dead meat.
And I was risking humanity as a civilization by playing along with this any longer.
Time to think long and hard.
