The search continues

The next day goes about the same. When I leave the house, I pass my sister in the living room. I sneak a peek at her and see her glancing over at me. Then we both look away and act as if nothing happened. I exit my house before I see any of my other family members. Jimalu takes me to school, which ends up being a silent drive. She tries talking to me, but I tell her that I am still too tired to talk. Then I go to all my boring classes and now I sit next to Merrick in my last class.

"What are you thinking about?" he asks. Everyone else is having fun with their gift, so I know nobody is listening to us.

Still I lean in closer to him and whisper, "Can you promise you won't tell anyone and you won't get mad?"

"Yeah, I promise."

"Okay, so yesterday I was walking and I ended up at know forbidden area. And I, uh, I entered it and walked around."

"You what?! Oh my gosh, I can't believe this!"

"Keep it down. Geesh. I didn't find anything there. It was kinda dumb."

"Maybe that's why I felt curiosity."

"Yeah, well, there ain't anything going on. So I'm still curious as to why they have it closed off."

"You aren't going to go back, are you?"

"Of course I'm going back."

"To find out what is going on."

"Why are you suddenly so curious?"

"I always have been. Just, now that I'm able to get in, I'm going to figure out what's in there that is so special."

"What if you don't like what you find?"

"At least my curiosity will be killed."

"Be careful, okay?"

"I will."

“I’m serious. I don’t want anything happening to you.”

“Nothing is going to happen. There isn’t anything in there though.”

“Still, you never know.” He gives me a sincere look and also I see that he is wondering about something.

“What is it?”

“It is just that I don’t see you this motivated, often.”

Still nothing. I can't seem to find anything that could be harmful. Nothing is valuable. Nothing in this place seems like it needs to be kept away from us. I have searched high and low. Maybe I am searching too hard. Or maybe it’s the fact that I do not know what I should be looking for. So I form a plan that could possibly help. I split the place up into sections, so I can search very well. I am searching every building very thoroughly. It takes me a couple of hours to search one small section. I even climb a building to see the tops of all the other buildings. All I find are a bunch of things, left behind. Old furniture, broken bikes, empty boxes, trash, and all that good stuff. I decide to leave before it gets too late.

The End
