As the guards moved in around Charles, they suddenly stopped, their eyes opened wide with confusion. Charles, also, had his eyes opened wide from shock at what seperated his from the guards...
Aria stood in front of Charles, arms open, with a defiant look on her face. "I will not allow this." Aria stated quietly.
Charles growled lowly. "I don't need your help, you little brat. I can take care of myself."
Fujitsu stared at Charles, a look of mixed anger and surprise on his face. "She's willing to defy Prince Elric, right after she helped him regain control of the kingdom from Governor Wessel, and you have the nerve to insult her? Why, you arrogant son of a-"
"That's enough, Fujitsu. I don't care." Aria interrupted, her voice filled with stern resolve. She faced the guards. "If you have to arrest him, you should arrest me too... I am also guilty of commiting terribly crimes of theft and murder... for me it was necessary for survival, never out of greed or jealousy. And... need I remind you it was you sitting in that cell this morning?"
Prince Elric was taken aback by this statement. He took a moment to compose himself, and then stated: "That may be, but I was not responsible for the death of my father. He, on the other hand, was.
"He just helped us drive off Ultritch, who would have probably turned this castle into molten slag if he hadn't helped." Aria retorted.
"One good deed is not enough to redeem one of a lifetime of wickedness." Elric calmly answered.
"Just hear me out... if he is capable of fighting for you, and helps us defeat Xeranad, then he would have commited an act worthy of a reprieve, am I right?" Aria stated resolutely.
Elric thought for a second, then snapped his fingers. "You know... I do believe you are right. Guards, stand down. Looks like we have another hero in our midsts."
