Chapter 3: Betrayal
Aria woke up the following morning, getting up before anyone else. She always loved to watch the sunrise, ever since she was a little girl. It reminded her that no matter how dark the night was, the light will always come.
She thought back to her childhood, before Xeranad took her life away:
"What beautiful colors!" Aria exclaimed with glee. Her friend, Rose, was like a sister to her, and was the one who showed her the beautiful sunrise. They smiled at each other, and laughed.
"This is my favorite spot for watching the sunrise, Aria. We can see almost everything from here. I have a different spot for sunsets, though, cause this place isn't suited for watching sunsets."
Aria looked up at Rose with curiousity. "Why not?"
Rose patted little Aria on her head. "Because the mountains we live in block all sight to the west. So, I have to climb and watch the sunsets from up there. I never think it is worth the effort though."
Aria nodded. "Watching the sunrise is much better than watching it set."
Rose looked at Aria. "Why's that, little Aria?"
Aria looked at the sunrise and smiled. "I don't feel too comfortable in the darkness. And the sunset reminds me that the darkness will swallow the light. It... makes me a little uneasy." She blushed. "Please don't tell anyone I said that."
Rose smiled. "Not a word, little Aria, not a word." She picked Aria up and gave her a piggyback ride all the way back to the village.
"Hey Aria, whatcha' doin'?"
Aria nearly fell down from surprise. She looked around to see Fujitsu had woken up for the morning. Aria smiled at him. "I guess you are an early riser too, huh?"
Fujitsu smiled back. "Blame it on Old Man Jonou. He pounded it into my head when he took me in and raised me."
Aria smirked. "Was he also the one who made you a little crazy?"
She started laughing. Fujitsu scratched his head, then started laughing too, not because he though what she said was funny, but because he had no idea what was going on.
