"No, I'm serious. That last one looked at me cross-ways."
Marie simply nodded as she stepped up to the Structure's doorway. "Whatever you say, dear. It's not like it wasn't going to die, anyway."
"Oh, no, that's not the point. It's just that it looked at me cross-ways."
A male voice from the door's intercom system put a halt on Roy's rambling. "Name and ID, please."
"It's us, Virgil."
An audible rustling could be heard over the intercom as if Virgil was trying to readjust his seat or some instrument.
"Alright, Marie. Oh, and Jenna arrived not too long ago."
Marie seemed to stop to think for a moment, as if trying to remember something. "Oh, I didn't think they were going to get in so soon. Thank you for telling me, Virgil"
Roy and Marie entered the Structure's doors to find James Sagehill waiting to greet them.
"Welcome back, you two."
"Something wrong, Dad?" asked Roy, noticing his father's unusual seriousness.
"Well, in case you don't know, a firefight broke out in a assembly that your uncle and several other officials from Nirisil were supposed to be attending."
Marie's smile quickly broke, turning into a brief gasp. "Oh my. And, Virgil told me that Jenna just came in not too long ago. Does she know?"
"Yes. From what I've heard, he had some car trouble and never even left home," nodded James.
Marie held her chest, heaving a sigh of relief. "I can only imagine how relieved Jen and the girls are."
James shook his head. "It's been one of those days. I think it was just last week Fauyaktan nationalists waged an attack not too far from here over some assembly."
The mention of the nationalists made Roy slightly curious. "Dad, did you happen to hear any news on who started today's firefight?"
"Some man named Kamare Ilecedi from the Veralansi-Kinseth Empire."
"So, he's probably Fauyaktan, too." Roy assumed, trying to make a tie between all the attacks.
"It's highly possible, but no one knows if he's related to the group that did the attack here," James shrugged.
Marie blinked, somewhat confused. "What do you mean 'it's highly possible'? He's from the V-K, isn't he?"
"Well, that would be like saying everyone in the Rylanthian Empire's a Demakta. I can already disprove that with Virgil."
Roy stared at his father for a moment. "Are we going anywhere with this at all?"
James looked around the room for a moment then shrugged. "Probably not. Anyway, you two should probably go check up on Jen and the girls. I'm sure they've had a great deal of stress put on them tonight."
Before walking off with her son, Marie stopped to ask her husband a quick question.
"By the way, how was the usual checkup?"
"Well, the ether response I got from the tests keep giving me hope, but she still doesn't look like she'll come out of it anytime soon."
Marie sighed. "Well, I'm usually not one to believe in miracles, but maybe that's what we need."
