You drop the boy without thinking, but he seems not to notice he's now lying in the dirt.

Beware. You repeat it over again in your head. What could he mean? You take a couple of steps back, keeping both eyes on the screaming kid. Your pulse rises. It feels as though the threatening trees with their perched birds are closing in around you.

You decide to make a break for refuge inside your home.
