The run-away rubberplant

Daniel suddenly sat up in bed. He knew that it was the middle of the night because it was still dark. Then he heard IT!       The NOISE!     A rustling, cracking, sucking sound that had woken him.  Quickly he put on his dressing gown and slippers, and crept to his bedroom door.

He quietly pulled the door  handle down and slowly opened the door. Peering round it  he saw the light  of the moon glowing through a crack in the landing curtains. The moonbeam fell on the rubber plant which stood at the top of the stairs, It was swaying.

Daniel rubbed his eyes. “I must be dreaming” he thought, but when he opened his eyes again the rubber  plant was still moving. With a SCHLOOP  it pulled one of its roots out of the pot and stretched it.........
