The Right Path

I stumbled my way across the thicket of the dense forest floor. My bare feet were grubby and sore. My palms were covered in muck, filth, and bloody scrapes.

But I followed soundlessly, despite my aches and pains. Oh, why couldn't he slow down? It's not as if we have a deadline to meet.

Do we?

Is he keeping something from me?

"Wait! I need a rest," I shouted, bending over to rest my hands on my knees.

He turned around, a frown upon his pale lips. As he walked towards me, the sun came out and his smile lit up the world.
