A Bump In The Road

“Wednigo,” Alastor growled.

“Yes Massster?”

“Can you do me a favor?” He snarled.

“Of coursssse my king.”

“Shake things up a bit for our vampire friends, won’t you?”

“I think we’re just about ready Master Zane!” Piper yelled out from the group of pirate vampires. They had been spending the day devising up a plan that everyone could agree upon.

“You’re starting to sound like Tadrith,” Chao mumbled.

“How many times have you been knocked on the head today?” Piper asked, putting her hands on her hips and looking down at him.

“Nineteen,” He mumbled looking down at his feet.

“Don’t make me make that twenty,” She threatened. He nodded. Tadrith walked over and picked Piper up flinging her onto his back.

“Is it really that bad to take from me?” He asked.

“No,” She chuckled. “I just enjoy tormenting the kid.”

“I know I always did,” Jacob jumped in. Holli laughed along with him as he put together a camp fire.

"So everything is ready?" Zane muttered.

"Yes Master!" They all said in unison.

"Awesome!"

"Um Zane," Amethyst interrupted, putting her hand on his shoulder. "I believe we have company." He looked over at her and raised his eyebrow. She pointed into the sky were Wendigo was flying down towards them.

"Greetingsss vampsss," He snarled.

"What are you doing here?" Jacob asked, even though he could probably guess anyways. Wendigo was Alastor's pet, so it was pretty obvious that he was taking orders from him.

Wendigo took a lunge at Jacob, landing on his shoulder. He sunk his fangs into Jacob's flesh. Jacob screamed at the top of his lungs as the pain dripped through his veins.

When Wendigo stopped Jacob's eyes were filled with liquid rage. He glared up at Wendigo who smiled a creepy smile to him. Jacob grabbed Wendigo his neck. He cracked the bones and dropped his lifeless body down to the floor.

"Jacob are you okay?" Holli yelled out running over to him.

His eyes blared at Holli. She looked at him with fear shivering through her veins. He was a monster, lurking in his were-pyre form, licking his fangs, which were thirsty. Ever since Wendigo dropped by for a moment Jacob had been fixed on Holli as his next dish. She knew he wasn’t himself, for he would never attack her free willingly. Yet Zane felt he knew exactly what he was doing.

Holli backed up slowly as Jacob snarled at her, flapping his dagger sharp wings. Zane ran out in between the two of them, ready to kill Jacob with one blow.

“Zane stop!” Holli screamed out, almost sobbing. He turned around, surprised by her outburst. “I can handle it. Don’t hurt him.” Zane found it strange that she was going to take him herself, and was worried about his safety when he didn’t care about hers. “If I don’t do this I will be no help to you when you fight your father’s army.” Zane nodded, although he knew he would regret this decision.

Zane backed off back into the crowd of vampires. Holli breathed hard while looking at Jacob through her hair. He stood there, blood thirsty like the wolf in all of those legends. Yet she knew better than to believe he was like that. She wouldn’t believe it.

He lunged at he and she fell to the ground, letting him fly over her quickly. She got on her hands and knees and showed him her fangs, growling at him. He growled back at her and they sat there for a few moments trying to strike fear. He jumped at her pushing her backwards onto the ground. He shoved his claws into the ground to hold down her arms into the ground, two claws digging into her arms. She bit into his shoulder blade and he loosened his grip giving her time to roll away. She pounced onto his back and sat on him like she normally did. She grabbed a hold of his ears and wrapped her legs around his wings. He looked back at her and spun around trying to bite at her as if he was trying to catch his own tail.

Finally he rolled around on the ground and she let go. Again they were face to face. He jumped at her again and she fell backwards and he flipped over her, bringing her up along with him. He took his claws and scratched at her face, leaving a long scar across. She bit at his leg and flipped him around with her teeth. He whimpered when he hit the rocky ground. She rubbed her face where he scratched her at, blood now running down her neck and on her hand. He got up slowly and jumped at her again. She dodged quickly and then took a lunge at him. He jumped away before she got him. He jumped onto her back, barring his claws in her arms and into the ground.

He raised his head up in the air and barred his vampire fangs. He looked down at her neck, which was bare at the moment. She groaned with her face against the ground, pinned into the gravel, not able to move.

“Jacob! Don’t you dare bite her!” Zane yelled.

Jacob ignored Zane. He bit down his fangs into her flesh. A blood-curdling scream escaped from her mouth. Jacob feasted on her blood as Zane ran towards him, Holli’s screaming eating at his ears. He knocked Jacob off of Holli.

“Jacob, get a hold of yourself!” Zane yelled. Jacob slowly morphed back into his human form. He looked up at Zane wearily.

“What’s going on?” He muttered wearily.

“You know damn well what happened,” Zane hissed. “I told you not to bite her. Why did you bite her?”

Jacob started to breath heavily. He pushed Zane off of him and looked over at Holli who lay lifeless on the ground. He crawled over to her and picked her up, her eyes shut, not moving or even reacting to him moving her. He shook her body, but she didn’t open her eyes.

“Holli?” He muttered. “Holli, wake up. Holli come on wake up. Wake up! God damn it wake up!” He rested his head against hers. “What have I done?”

“I figured that this would happen,” Zane mumbled. “Since you only became a Vampire because of Wendigo. You only survived because you were part werewolf. But I didn’t know how it would effect her.”

“She’s dead,” Jacob screamed, chocking back tears. “I’m a monster.”

“No your not,” Zane whispered.

“I am a monster,” He growled. “I killed the only person who mattered to me in this god damn life you’ve made me live. Why did you do this to me? You should’ve just killed me when you had the chance. Why put me through all this? So you could show your father? So you could fulfill your dumb prophecy. Face it Zane it’s never going to happen. We’ll never a perfect breed of Vampires, we’re a bunch of screwed up half-breeds. All you’ve done is ruin are lives. Unlike you I loved my family! They all think I’m dead. My mother’s probably worried herself sick over me. They all think I’m dead because I was supposed to be. But instead I’m here doing your dirty work and all I’m doing is ruining everything.”

“Jacob,” Zane muttered slowly.  “Get a hold of yourself!”

“Huh?” Jacob mumbled.

“Quit feeling sorry for yourself,” Zane growled. “Quit saying all of this was for nothing. Its not my fault that you screwed everything up!”

“What?” Jacob snarled. “This isn’t all my fault. This all started because of you.”

“Stop fighting!” Amethyst roared over the two of them. “You’re both acting like idiots. Now look!”

She pointed down at Holli who yawned a bit showing off her knew fangs. Fangs that highly resembled the kind that Jacob had. She blinked open her red eyes and slowly shuttered in pain. Jacob blinked his eyes, not believing what he was seeing.

“Your alive?” He gasped.

“No,” She teased. “Yes, I am alive. Not in perfect condition, but alive.”
