Mazany: Human Intentions?Mature

I was so confused... What were Ice and Shadow taking about? Bringing a darkness across the world? And Shadow saying he had a job for me? But I was free of both of them for now.

I felt a change under foot and glanced down to see gravel beneath my shoes. I heard someone beep at me and looked up slowly to see a lorry coming towards me, I didn't move. Why should I live? I wanted to die.

Something tackled me, pushing me out of the way of the lorry. We fell across the side of the road, my knees tearing across the gravel. Something heavy fell on top of me causing stars to dance in front of my vision, setting my ears ringing. I blinked a couple of times and looked at the person who had pushed me out of the way, she had dark blue hair that fell down in waves and brilliant violet eyes. She was older then me, I would guess about 29. Getting up slowly she knelt down so that she could look me in the eye,

"What do you think you were doing? You could have died!" I didn't say anything, her features softened and she got up, holding out a hand to help me up, I didn't take it.

"Come on, you can't stay there all day." I didn't say anything. She crouched down again and said,

"You don't have to be scared I won't hurt you."

"Why...?" I whispered, looking at her, she frowned,

"Why what?"

"Why did you save me?" I tipped my head to the side, truly puzzled. She sat back, shock apparent on her face.

"Why? Well... just because that's what your meant to do."

"Your meant to.... Push people." She burst out laughing and I frowned, I hadn't talked to someone in ages and I had lost the reasoning of others. She dried her eyes and said,

"No, no. You're meant to help people." My frown deepened.

"Help?" She nodded. She stood up again and I yelped in pain as she stepped on one of my tails.

"Oh I'm sorry! You have a tail?" I cleared my face of emotion and gave her an icy look, she chose to ignore it.

"Ahh! I see, you're a fire fox."

"So what?!" I growled, she held up her hands and said,

"Hey! No need to get defensive Little One." I felt my eyes furrow in confusion,

"What?" She asked,

"I- I don't know..." I said, generally confused. I tried to get up but the graze on my leg made me fall back down, I felt tears prickle my eyes and I had to bite my lip to stop myself from crying out. I clutched the wound and watched as blood seeped between my fingers. The woman knelt down to help me but I hit her hand away growling,

"Leave me alone! Don't get involved with me!" I didn't want her to die because Shadow took over.

"Your hurt!" She protested, I shook my head biting my lip,

"It'll heal..." She gave me a look which said she could tell I was lying,

"No it won't, your too weak! When was the last time you ate or slept?" I hadn't eaten in a couple of days and I wouldn't let myself sleep.

"I can't sleep..." I mumbled. I tried to get up again, my leg buckled underneath me but I grabbed a branch. I felt the woman grab me and lift me up,

"Let me go!" I snarled, my tail flickering. Dang, why am I so small!? I thought sourly to myself. A smile danced across her lips,

"No way kid. Come on you can come and stay at our house until your better." With that she wrapped her hand securely around my waist and carried me across the road to the house on the opposite side, ignoring my cries of protest the whole way.

The End
