"Um," A voice said beside Darcy. She looked over, surprised that someone other than Tanaka was talking to her. Granted, when Tanaka talked to her it usually had a few good cuss words embedded here and there, but still.
"Hello?" She said to the blonde girl standing next to her. The girl was wearing a light blue t-shirt, purple shorts underneath that. Her hair hung in curls around her shoulders, her feet shifting nervously in their sandals.
She was also struggling to carry her books.
One in particular -History, it looked like- was absolutely huge, and was balanced on the top of the pile, leaning precariously. Barely even thinking about it, Darcy reached out and snagged the giant textbook, expertly shifting it into one of her free arms and grabbing her bookbag with the other, closing her locker with her foot as she clutched the textbook to her side with her elbow, using the free fingers to close the lock. Once that was done, she gripped it with her fingers again, moving it into a more comfortable position.
The blonde was standing there, looking at her wide-eyed.
"So, who did you say that you were, again?" Darcy said, completely calm even though inside she was freaking out because why did she help a complete stranger with her books?
"Oh, uh, I didn't really get a chance to introduce myself." The girl smiled shyly. "I'm Drew. Drew Hill. I was looking for Tanaka."
"I don't know where he is, I'm sorry. I think he might have been headed to the library." Darcy's face stayed in her friendly expression. Drew seemed sort of skittish. "But we've got classes in-" She looked at her watch, "-7 minutes, so I think we should head over. I'll make sure he finds you at the end of the day. In the meanwhile, where's your next class?"
The blonde seemed surprised. "Why do you want to know?"
The taller girl looked meaningfully at the large book that was starting to make her arm ache.
"Oh. Right. I have English next." She turned and stepped in the direction of her classroom, gesturing at Darcy to follow her. "Come on."
