The Monsters Are Out To Get Me

The monsters in fairytales aren't as scary as the ones in real life. Because these monsters are everywhere.

The monsters are out to get me
And I cannot hide
Whenever I see their faces
I feel pain deep down inside

The monsters are out to get me
But no one knows who they are
Nobody can know, because
They've promised I won't get far

The monsters are out to get me
Wherever I want to go
The streets, at school,  at home
They don't let me say no

The monsters are out to get me
I'm just so petrified
But they used to hurt me
If I even cried

The monsters are out to get me
Yet when I tell this true
Everyone dismisses it
Small and delusional, too

The monsters are out to get me
I don't understand why
One said it's because I'm beautiful
The other said I've nice eyes

The monsters are out to get me
Ever since 2nd grade
When the first one caught hold
Of my jeans after the parade

The monsters are out to get me
I feel so cold and used
My friends keep asking about my scratches
And how my arm got bruised

The monsters are out to get me
I'm dreading going home
Tonight's the night when it's
Just the monster and I, alone

The monsters are out to get me
I don't want to go to school
Perhaps I can bunk off
My excuse is to look 'cool'

The monsters are out to get me
I hate Saturday nights
The monsters come creeping, crawling
They always turn off the lights

The monsters are out to get me
No matter where I run
They find this a game
Telling me it's "fun"

The monsters are out to get me
Why is no one ever here?
Because if you can't kill the monsters
I'll shed more than just a tear

The monsters are out to get me
But now it's night time
 - Someone's walked in -
No, it's monster time.

The End
