Brooke ran out the room, leaving the door open. Cosmo kissed me again, ignoring the fact that the door was wide open and Brooke had probably gone to tell everyone about us. I did my best to hold him down, even though he was stronger than me. He complied with my wishes but still brushed my hair over my shoulder.
"Are you not going to go sort that out?" I asked.
"Do you want me to?" he whispered.
He sighed but pushed me off him and pulled a top on quickly. He quickly kissed me again and vanished out the door, shutting it behind him. I sighed and got dressed. I went back to the room I shared with a couple of necromancers and dropped onto my bed. I dropped my head in my hands and just thought about what I was going to do.
I heard somebody rush into the room. I looked up. It was Kaida. A grin broke across her face when she saw me. She flung herself next to me on my bed, her long white hair slapping me across the face as she did so. Her blue eyes were alive with excitement from the idea of gossip.
"Is it true?" she exclaimed.
I just sighed and the grin vanished from her face. She put her arm around my shoulders and I started crying.
"Hey, it's okay. Don't worry about it," Kaida said.
" I hate Brooke. Why did she have to go and tell everyone?" I sobbed.
"'Cause she's Brooke. She's had a crush on Cosmo for decades. Everybody knew except you and Cosmo himself. Even the necromancers knew," she said.
"Great. She's going to make my life hell."
"She'll try. You can't let her. You're much better than she is, you can't let her see that what she's doing is bothering you."
"I'm leaving," I announced.
"I'm leaving. Now."
I stood up and grabbed a bag from under my bed. I unzipped it to make sure everything was there. It was full of jeans and T-shirts. There were two pairs of sunglasses and some caps. There was a hooded jacket for if I ever needed to go out in the day.
Someone walked into the room. A necromancer. I'd met him before. His name was...
"Shadow, that's your name isn't it?" I asked him.
"Yeah. You're Blaze."
"I am. One of your Sisters, Bronwyn, I need to talk to her, do you know where she is?"
"I'll go and get her." He left the room to get her.
The Necromancers were part of a brotherhood, with women too. They called each other Sister and Brother, when in need of formality. Bronwyn raced into the room then.
"Bronwyn! Do you like it here?" I asked her.
"Not particularly. Why?" she asked.
"I'm leaving. Do you want to come with me?"
"Of course. I'll grab my things." And she vanished into the shadows.
She appeared a minute later with a bag over one shoulder. I zipped my bag up and slung it across my back.
"Are we leaving then?" she asked.
"Yes. Kaida, tell Cosmo he knows where to find me." I kissed her cheek. "Tell Brooke that she's a bitch. Say goodbye to Gryph for me."
"I will but you can't just leave," she said.
"I can and I will."
"But you can't-"
I grabbed Bronwyn's hand and we were gone.
