the first god; page 4

Hedge Drainage Pipe Gramophone.

What the heck? Renan thought. He responded.

Is this some sort of joke?

I am god.

He was sure he was being hacked. Renan ran a tracing program, and got nothing but a line of nonsensical, fragmented glitches.

What do you want?

I human is am not…Electricity I found is me.

Whoever it was, Eurasian was not their first language.

Who are you?

I am your god, Puppet. I am an electromagnetic being, and am stuck inside your shielding. Can understand me now, puppet?

You aren’t serious, right?

I am as serious as I intend to be. Now, let me elaborate on my previous sayings. I am an electromagnetic being, and I am stuck inside your energy shields. You can call me god. I think it describes me well. And you need to serve me. You are a puppet.

Stop playing games.

I don’t have time to play games. Get me off of this spacecraft. I can burn your headset to the ground if I want to.

If you really are an electromagnetic being, then go through a heat sink or something. That will get you out of the energy shielding. Don’t get me involved.

I’m holed up in your headset. I can’t just get out, puppet. I’ve fused with your software. You could break your headset, but I would burn out inside these shields. You need to get me out into unshielded space, and then I can leave you alone.

So you can’t burn my headset without killing yourself. I’ll find somebody to put you on a flash drive, and flush you out an airlock. Sound good?

Let me see…what is a ‘flash drive’, puppet?

It’s a small memory unit. Just trust me with it. And stop calling me puppet.

I can call you anything I like, puppet. You call me god, I call you puppet. Is there anything wrong with that?

Renan was about to write a long message about insults, but he decided against it.

Okay. I’ll get back to you later.

Renan went on finding somebody worth hacking; as though nothing had happened. He’d deal with this little god later. It seemed to want preserve itself, and its threats were suicidal and therefore empty words. It could wait.

The End
