I looked at Joe, but he looked as if he hadn't heard a single word of what dad had said. I looked at mum, she was shaking more than ever now.

"Mum, you alright?" I asked. Mum was still shaking and she didn't answer me, instead, dad did.

"She just didn‘t have enough sleep..."

"And why‘s that?"

"Umm.. We.. We were packing."

After that reply from dad, the room was filled again with the horrifying silence. Only small chews and the scraping of our plates were heard. Joe finished his breakfast first and walked over to the sink placing his plate and cutlery there.

"My son, go and pack your bags, but don‘t pack too much luggage, since we are only going there for 3 days," dad commanded, "We‘ll be leaving at 7." I glanced up at the clock once again and saw that it was 6:30. I ate down my food quickly and managed to finish it in 5 minutes.

I hurried up the stairs stumbling to the bathroom. Then after a while, I started brushing my teeth and washing my face. When I had finished, I heard Joe shouting, "Sam! Let‘s go!" I stood still. ‘How could time fly that quick?' I ran to my room and thought ‘I'll pack 6 items that I really need.' After a few ‘picking up and putting downs,' I ended up with these six things:

1) My Phone

2) Phone charger

3) Money

4) 2 outfits and my pyjamas

5) Snacks

6) Toiletries

‘Perfect!' I thought. I packed them into my shoulder bag and flung it over my head, placing it on my shoulder. Just as I was about to reach for the door handle, Joe walked in almost knocking me over.

"Hurry up, we‘re gonna leave soon."

"God Joe! Do you have to rush in like that?! You nearly knocked me over!"

"Who told you to stand in the way?"

"I wasn‘t standing in the way! This is my room?"

"Yeah, but why were you standing where the door was?"

"Cause I was gonna come out!"

"So you were standing in the way!"

"No, I was..."

"Yeah - we‘re leaving now."

I followed him down the stairs and after a while, we were standing outside our front door thinking what the day had yet to come.
