Anthony walked up to the testing centre, and approached the teleporter that flashed " Driver's Test". As he walked into the teleporter, instead of being transported to his vehicle, a voice came from the applifiers above.
"Welcome Mr. Lucien, we've been expecting you. Before we get started on your driving teast, we must ask you a few questions. Are you more likely to drive you're cruiser alone, or with passengers?"
"Alone, everyone in my family has their own vehicle already."
"Good. What is most inportant to you in a cruiser. Safety, speed, or appearance?"
"Speed, although I do care for the other two as well." '
"Excellent. Would you prefer your cruiser to be circular, cylindricle, or classic rocket shaped?"
"I would prefer a circular ship." Anthony was aware that these questions would come up. They did for his father, his mother and his older brother, so he had an idea of what would go on.
"Good." The amplifier paused for a few seconds before resuming. " According to our tests you would be most suited for the Kelin-341 fighter cruiser. Because of this, we must ask you some other questions." Anthony was puzzled. The rest of his family never had this happen to them, and he had no idea what was going on. He also wasn't sure he had heard the speaker correctly.
"I'm sorry, did you say fighter cruiser? Why would I need a fighter cruiser?"
"After reviewing your test results, you have tested excellent for combat skills and defensive tactics." Suddenly Anthony remembered a target practice and shielding test that he was asked to complete. He hadn't been sure why at the time. "Your father signed the form, you are being recruited to Lave's space force."
"Dad!" He looked at his dad petrified. "What are you doing to me?! I can't join the space force, I'll die!"
Anthony's father walked up to Anthony. "Son, I knew when I saw your shooting results that you would be amazing in the space force. So when the opportunity came up, I couldn't object. Don't worry though, you probably won't go into the fray for a while, and it's a good way to make extra money." He put his hand on Anthony's shoulder. "It'll be fine, I promise." Anthony looked down for a moment, then shrugged it off. He knew there would be no getting out of it now, so he might as well accept it. The speaker came back on.
"Which three weapons would you like to use? Rock Crusher, Gold Melter, Plasma Bubble, Laser Beam, Ice Melter."
"I don't know.. Rock, gold and ice I guess."
"Good. Would you prefer the shooters to be at the front, or sides of your cruiser?"
"Definitely the front."
"Excellent. Test is complete, license will appear shortly."
"Wait... don't I need to actually drive the cruiser?"
"Negative, you did not choose safety, so you have nothing to worry about." Suddenly, a set of keys and a license appeared from the top. Anthony reached down, and grabbed them. He couldn't believe this was really happening, but he certainly didn't mind. "You will now be teleported to the Kelin-341."
And with that, his body evaporated from where he stood. Then, cell by cell, he rematerialized inside the cruiser, sitting in the front seat. He looked at the keys again, and then the license.
"Take if for a test ride kid." His dad called from his own cruiser. Anthony nodded, then pressed the key into the slot. As soon as he touched the motion button, his cruiser went whizzing across the road at a ridiculous speed. He took a look at his speed check, which showed his speed at three thousand four hundred and sixty six miles per hour. His jaw dropped to the floor, as he looked around and saw everything become blurry. He was amazed by the cruiser's performance, and that's when he noticed the button for the shooter.
He began to slow the cruiser, and then looked around. He pointed at a building about a mile in the distance. He pushed the shooter, and turned the selection to "Rock Crusher". He took aim, and shot a small green ball at the building.
"Wow, that's pathetic." He muttered as the ball whizzed through the air. He watched as it hit the building and expected it to just get a small hole.
He was once again very surprised when the whole building collapsed.
He had no idea what had just happened, he could only think one thing. "I love this ship!"
