Lollie didn't know what to suggest. She was in brand new territory. So she did exactly what she had done before. Exactly what she did every time something shocked her.
She hit the 'reply' button and started typing a message.
Sophie hadn't noticed yet; she was still absorbed in her despair. She wiped at her eyes, removing the little droplets. For a second, she worried about her make-up running. But then it dawned on her. No need anymore.
She looked up and took in the darkness of the moon. It looked alone in the night sky; all the stars were shining dimmer tonight. She hoped that it might be because she missed her.
Lily took a deep breath and hit send.
"I'm sorry Mum. I love you xx"
She tossed the phone back to Sophie and frowned.
"You're lucky," she said. "You've got a link to the other world."
"You miss it?"
"I don't think I have anyone to miss."
It was then that the phone went off again. And again.
One from Mum.
One from her boyfriend.
