The Lady

It was minutes till the sunrise
In the million dollar home
And the morning was a Vandal
Marching on the walls of Rome

The lady was a blessed one
With hair a blessed heap
And the creature staring back at her
Would follow her to sleep

So she thump thump thumped
On the crystal clear glass
Like the twenty one cannons
For the King’s final Mass

But the beast kept staring
And the glass held still
And the black-lined eyes watched
The breaking of her will

So she took her white bottle
And she drank it like wine
And she held her gaze up
To prefabricated shine

It was minutes after sunrise
In the million dollar house
And nothing living stirred
In the million dollar spouse.
