"Hello," said Mr. Evans.
"Hello, I'm Garrett Jackson's brother. Elizabeth's uncle. I came to talk to her."
"Of course. Of course. Come on in."
Mr. Evans led me to the room where Elizabeth was.
"Elizabeth," said Mr. Evans.
"Someone's here to see you."
"Mom, look," Liz said coming out of the room. "Oh. It's you."
"Yup. Not your mom. I just wanted to say that your mom and dad are in love. And you can not change that. And I'm sorry."
"I don't want them together. I like it the way we are."
"I understand that. But wouldn't you want two parents to love and care for you?"
"I guess. But_"
"But what?" asked Mr. Evans. We both stared at him.
He continued. "This young man is right. You are being stubborn. I am sure your father will treat yo well. You've got to accept the fact that your parents are in love. You may think your father has done wrong. But no, he hasn't. Your mother and father love and care for each other, I'm sure of that. Aren't you happy? You'll have a great family nad maybe you won't be so cranky all the time. Please, Lizzy, accept it. Accept your father."
Lizzy ran to me. After saying thanks to Mr. Evans, I drove her to Garrett. Kaya and I walked out of the car. Lizzy ran to Garrett and hugged him.He lifted her up.
"Lizzy!" he cried. He kissed her on the cheek. Hally wrapped her arms around Garrett and Lizzy. Picture perfect.
"I'll call you."
"How 'bout we all do lunch?"
"It's a deal."
I hugged my brother and drove off. I kissed Kaya. I slept with her byh my side. Kissed and made love to her. And life was simple that way. We were gonna get married someday, you know. We were madly in love with each other.
I kept in touch with my brother and his family. Hally was going to have another child and they all lived happily ever after.
Garrett and I were brothers. The Jackson brothers. That had a nice ring to it.
