"So you are the brother of Garrett?"
"Is he mad?"
"No. He misses you."
"Wow, I'm such a bitch."
She glared at me. Well, Mrs. Jackson was nice. She lived in a crappy apartment with her daughter, Elizabeth. I had no idea how I found her... I just did. Kaya was at her mother's house talking to her since this morning. Last night she made love as if it were the last time ever. Hopefully not... This morning I just found Mrs. Hally Jackson. I just had luck.
"Look," she said gently. That's all she said and she wept. She looked beautiful when she cried. Her golden hair peering over her shoulder and clear water dripping down her cheeks. I handed her a tissue.
"Why are you here?"
"Garrett wants you back."
"What!? He want a bitch like me back? Wow, he must really love me. I..."
"Do you love him?"
"Yes. Yes I do. I've been afraid of going back to him. I don't know why."
"Well, now you should. Please. I beg you."
"Lemme talk to Lizzy. Lizzy!"
The kid came to her mom. She was small for a 10-year old.
"Do you wanna go be with dad?"
"Why would I give a shit?"
I see she picked up her cursing habit from her mother.
"Don't say that!"
"Well, you left him. Not my problem. It's been what... a year or two. He doesn't give a damn for us.'
"Lizzy. Don't you dare talk like that. And he does care. He does."
"How the hell do you know?"
"Ya see this man here. He's his brother."
Liz looked at me. She glared her irises seeming to turn darking and dark with each glance.
"Why... are... you... here?"
"To bring you back."
"I don't want to go back!"
"Well. He misses you."
"Well, tell him to do someone and get another child or somethin. I don't give a shit about him."
"Liz, you're grounded. How dare you talk like that in front of our guest."
"Shut up, mom! Oh my God! Geez."
Liz stormed out of the living room.
"We'll give it a try."
"Okay. Nice meeting you."
I walked out of the apartment thinking that Liz wasn't gonna be super nice when she saw Garrett. Why did she seem to hate him?
