Garrett had not called me ever since I told him the truth. Opened his blind eyes. I started to talk to Marie and asked how Garrett was doing. We stayed in contact.
"How's he doing?" I asked over the phone.
"He's been quiet. He hasn't been with girls in like forever. He has ingnored praticallly everyone in the building and leaves right when the sun goes down. I try to call him, comfort him but he is just quiet."
"I'm sorry. I can't believe that it's all my fault."
"It's not. You opened his eyes. He said that he was sorry."
"About you know. Raping..."
"Well, gotta go. Bye."
I sighed. The truth seemed to work. I didn't have to go through a plan to get him to suffer. I used words. Plain... simple... words.
That night, I couldn't sleep. I tossed and turned in my bed, my shirt sticking to my chest. I walked out of my room and sat on the couch in darkness. I could feel the tears dripping down my cheeks, but I was ashamed of seeing of how I looked. A small smile fanned across my lips, but it vanished.
I stayed up all night until my lids became heavy and I dozed off to sleep.
It was 10 a.m when it happened. I was still asleep when in happened. The phone rang.
"Hello?" I said drowsily.
"Levi," a voice whispered.
"I'm sorry," the voice whispered.
"Who the heck is this? Answer me."
But the voice did not answer. I wondered. I thought. And then went back to sleep. I did not let this bother me for I thought it was just Garrett.
