Alex swallowed his third piece of the pizza Chloe made. “This is really good. Thanks.” he said for the hundredth time. He was hoping hundred and one would strike up a full conversation. Knowing that he loved Chloe made it harder to have a conversation with her.
Chloe smiled. “No prob.” She played with her pizza. “You know, the way you’re eating makes me think you’ve never eaten before.”
“Yeah, my parents tend to starve me.” he joked. “So you don’t like your own cooking?”
“Ha. I’m just … not hungry.” Chloe said. Huh? Not hungry? Or something else ... Alex thought.
“Well, you won’t mind if I finish this then.” Alex said.
“Go ahead, take it. Thanks for coming.” She sounded kind of detached, like she wanted him to leave.
“You wanna watch a movie?” Alex asked. He obviously wanted to stay despite that important math project waiting for him. Chloe nodded slowly and they moved to the living room.
Alex started hyperventilating about the idea of them in the dark together.
He needs to stop fantasizing.
