chapter three.

Saffron sat on the back row of the cinema, two seats away from him. Of course, he didn't know that. He was too busy laughing at the corny jokes. It had been a romantic comedy: Saffron had learnt to like them. The girl always got the guy. Everyone was happy in the end. The end...

It's tonight, I know it. Saffron felt her throat close up and sat forward in her seat, as if she had spilt something down her front. It couldn't be. He couldn't..not now! But she heard the voices of the elders in her mind, their telepathic link searing through her brain and bringing hot tears to her eyes. It has been decided, Saffron. You cannot do anything. She nodded, and blinked back the emotion. She could not step in and save him this time. Not again...who knows what would happen to her. Most probably she would become a fallen angel. But Jay wasn't a bad person. He was good, like the guy in the film: everything that the girl wants. But that, of course, meant it was false. Saffron faded from the cinema. She couldn't stand to see it happen...

Saffron reappeared in the bright light of Above. She could stay away here, keep a distance. Nevertheless, despite everything she knew, she had to close her eyes. Just to see the scene. Just one more time...

They were leaving the cinema now, laughing at the predictable ending. It had to be now...

The End
