I gave a good natured ' hmmph', and left. I went to the park for a few hours, just sat on my own, thinking. I smiled at the thought of being a telepath. Of being special. Of being wanted. My whole life, well, almost all, my parents had shouted at me, telling me I was useless, sometimes beating me.
I leaned my head back, looking at the sunset. Wow, time sure flies. I got up to leave, then that familiar voice said, "Hey, Amethyst." I turned, smiling, to see Alex. He plonked himself down beside me.
I pulled out the amethyst, and held it up to the light, watching it shimmer and shine in the sunset, sending tiny rainbows around.
"So....what you doing here?" asked Alex.
"Not much...just thinking. Watching the sunset here helps me think, and helps me relax."
"Cool. This is the only place I can go without being disturbed or upset. And the sunset always looks beautiful from here."
"Yeah..." I sighed. Alex put an arm over my shoulder.
"You Ok?" He seemed truly concerned for me. I smiled, looking into his grass green eyes.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just, I have loads of really good friends now. You, a few others. I just wish my parents would be as nice."
"Uhh...well, they think I'm a waste of space, that I'm useless...they used to..."
"You don't have to tell me if you're not comfortable."
The gentlness of his voice soothed my fears. "...They used to beat me." I sighed.
"Oh. That's not nice. No, that's just fucking terrible."
"Listen, I came over cause I saw you sat on your own. I wanted to ask you if you wanted to come into town this Saterday with me."
I tried not to search his mind if he was being genuine, but I couldn't help it. He was. OHMYFUCKINGGOD! OH. MY. FUCKING. GOD.
"Are you...asking me on...a date?!" I asked, a little shocked.
"It'll be a date if you want it to be a date. Up to you, jem. I gotta go. Tell me at school tomorrow if you want to come, yeah?"
"O-ok! Bye." I smiled. He grinned at my blush. He pecked my cheek, nd laughed at my cheeks going completly cherry red.
"It's fun making you blush." he smiled, before leaving. Once he was out of sight, I looked up at the sky, and shouted, "OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!!!!!!!"
