I want to illuminate the idea that we lie to ourselves as a way of coping with a universe that could care less for us; a universe that need not any of us, much less the complexity that we find in our galaxy.
The contemporary notion of truth says that A corresponds to B, therefore that is true. This, of course, has deep presuppositions, one of which gets stretched beyond its own capacity. The idea that truth corresponds to objects in the universe, it really says nothing about how things work (physics). The correspondence theory of truth is not useful.
This all hinges on the idea that there are falsehoods. But of course! If we have truth, then we must have falsity.
