In the alley way behind the biggest warehouse on Wilbraham Street, a dark van with a dark purpose came to a sudden, silent halt. The driver got out and placed his cargo in the middle of the alley, carefully recreating the picture he had been memorising over the last hour's drive. He got back in his van and drove as fast as the old van could go. The sun was rising in The Empire of The Dragon.
In the light of the dawn, the detectives gathered around the body in the road. She had been covered up by the discoverer, the warm red blanket hiding her identity. They would have to wait for Doctor Thomas to arrive, and it was depressing them. It was a typical cold rainy day in the North and they had no cover. Standing in dorrways dotted round the alley, they received their coffees from Tom who'd been nominated to go to the little cafe across the road.
By the time the detectives had decided on where to send Tom for breakfast, the little black HM Coroner van arrived in the alley. Finally, thought DI Turner, I'm freezing my ass off out here!
"Sorry I'm late, busy night, Chinatown burglary gone wrong." DI Turner was thinking of a curt response but came up with nothing.
"I don't give a toss where you've been just uncover her and let's get this show on the road!"
"Sorry, just explaining my where-", he was cut off by the harsh look from Turner. Carefully, Jo stepped in.
"We just need you and the SOCS team to uncover her and tell us the basics. We're all cold and we just want to go and find the bastard responsible."
"Of course. Dave, give me a hand will you." The SOCO officer with the camera came over to the body and was hit by a familiar smell.
"Roses. I smell roses."
They uncovered her and found the source of the scent of roses. Her mouth was open and in it was a red rose, piercing her through the back of her throat, exiting in her neck.
"This is gonna be a long day."

Elsewhere, the Dragon was venting. The plan had gone awry.
"Did they follow you?!"
"How sure are you?"
"Very. No one was behind me all the way."
"All the way?!
