The PancakesMature

Mal was watching Aurora making pancakes and trying to understand why the sight made her feel so... warm. Not the hot rush of heat that their heated make out sessions gave her, but a soft warmth like when Aurora looked at her with that smile. Phillip was giggling, sitting at the table next to Mal, highly entertained by the way Aurora was singing softly as she flipped the pancakes.

"How many, Mal?" Aurora asked, adding the pancake to the pile.

"I don't mind. Come and join us." Mal smiled. Aurora turned off the hob and grabbed the plate, heading over. Phillip cheered and Mal laughed at how large his eyes got as Aurora put a pancake on his plate.

"Fank ou!" He cried and dug in. He was a messy eater and both women laughed at him as they took their own pancakes.

"Looks like someone has been starved of pancakes for a long time." Mal mused.

"Yes well, they're for special occasions." Aurora grinned.

"And his father leaving is a special occasion?"

"No. It's Phillip's birthday tomorrow. We usually make it a two day event."

"Stephan is away for his son's birthday?"

"He left presents."

"PRESENTS!" Phillip cried.

"Not until tomorrow Phillip." The boy pouted. "Your pancake will get cold."

"What should I get him?" Mal asked.

"Oh you don't have to." Aurora hurried to reassure Mal.

"I want to." Aurora looked at Mal for a moment with an indescribable look in her eyes. She appeared confused and something else at the same time. Mal cocked her head to the side and frowned. "Am I wrong to want to?"

"No. No..." Aurora shook her head and looked back down at her pancakes.

"Tell me."

"I  get whiplash sometimes from who you are at work and here. And I just... I always forget how much you care about Phillip... and me I think."

"Have I ever given you cause to doubt that I care?"

"I mean besides trying to not give in to you."

"Well then." Mal smiled and took Aurora's hand in hers softly.

"FINISHED!" Phillip cried.

"Good boy. Go wash your hands and face please." Aurora said.

"Then play?"

"Once you're dressed."

"Okay!" He jumped from the seat and ran off.

"Are you okay?" Mal murmured.

"Yes." Aurora stood and started to clear the plates away.

"Are you lying?"

"Yes," she sighed, "But I don't understand why you won't..."

"... What? Be this at work? Because I can't lose my job Rora."

"No, that's not what I..."

"Then what?"

"I don't understand why you don't want me when you care so much."

Mal stared at Aurora like she'd slapped her. Then she stood and went over to the other woman, leaning against the work surface next to her.

"You think I don't want you?"

"Well you're so worried about it being right..."

"...because I want it to be special for you. And because I need relationships to be going somewhere, to be sure, before I... commit."

"You don't think we're going somewhere?" Aurora frowned, clearly upset.

"I... I don't know. I want to. But it's too early to say and you're so young... you might decide you don't want this."

"But I do. I told you that you're the first person I've felt like this about and I am totally committed to this. I wouldn't have kissed you, knowing you were struggling, if I wasn't. And I don't think you'd have kissed me back if you weren't sure because there's so much at stake!"

"Okay. Okay."Mal raised her hands in surrender and turned to face Aurora. "I understand. We're both... shall I say, frustrated? By the way things are. But I just need a little more time. Maybe I'm sure, maybe I'm not, but I don't want us to just say 'sure, let's do it'. It should be natural. I don't know where this is coming from, right now."

"Because... because you're having breakfast with me and you're being... motherly with Phillip and... and that robe..."

Mal grinned and looked down.

"You like?"

"Don't distract me?"

"I don't know what you're talking about." Mal bit her lip and raised an eyebrow.

"You're doing that on purpose."

"I'm entirely sure that you came to greet me this morning without a bra 'on purpose', so there."

"I didn't, but I'm glad you're appreciative."

"Very." Mal moved forward, pinning Aurora to the worktop by her hips. She reached down to kiss her but stopped suddenly, inches from Aurora's lips. "What do you mean motherly?"

"Ignore that and kiss me."

"No but..." Mal almost pulled back but Aurora wrapped her arms around her waist. "Motherly?"

"I don't know... caring, making sure he's well behaved, playing with him... Can we kiss now?"

"Insatiable." Mal chuckled, and allowed their lips to meet. Aurora moaned when Mal's tongue swiped against her lip, demanding entry, and she scraped her fingers against the back of Mal's scalp as she wrapped her arms around her. Mal's thumb skimmed the bare skin between top and bottoms, and then groaned as Aurora pulled her closer, trapping herself against the counter. They broke the kiss, panting, and Mal dived to kiss Aurora's jaw, and then down her neck. Aurora pulled her back to her lips and put her hands over Mal's, guiding them higher. Mal paused and looked at her.

"I'm not pushing I just... touch me..." Aurora panted, and kissed her again. She kept her hands over Mal's and, much more gently this time, guided her higher until her thumbs were brushing the underside of her breasts again. "Touch me."

"DONE!" Phillip yelled and they heard his feet running towards them. Mal jerked back, straightening her robe. Aurora let out a groan at the loss of contact and fanned her red cheeks. Phillip ran in to the kitchen moments later. "I done!"

"Good boy. Let's get you dressed and then we can play."

"I'd... I'd better get dressed too." Mal said, her voice deep and hoarse.

"Shame." Aurora muttered with a sneaky grin.

"Hmmm..." She kissed Aurora gently against her cheek and ruffled Phillip's hair. "See you in a few minutes Prince Phillip."

"Yes soon."

The End
