Chapter 43

Right now, I am 15 years old, and I am a sophomore in high school. I have managed to fix my bond with my family, and now consider Sarah one of my best friends. I have a boyfriend of about three months right now, who has done so much to help me.

My parents and I talk more, and have a more open relationship. There is more trust, and love showed between us. I am way more outgoing, and I have even competed in a beauty pageant, qualifying for nationals.

My entire life has changed, all because of asking for help. A year ago, I would have never imagined being truly happy. I am in the prime of my life, and I’m not going to let depression bring it down. I have defeated this disease. It’s gone. And I will not let it consume me again!

I am now planning on being a music therapist when I grow up. I want to help others with one of my passions. In addition, I try to make a difference everyday. I like to give out little compliments, and hang nice quotes on post its around my school. I smile at strangers, and sing like a fool if it will make someone laugh.

My entire perspective has changed, and I am loving life! It’s great! I am so happy I survived. And honestly, I am so happy that you’re reading this right now, because it means you’re still alive!

Trust me, you may feel like it’s not worth it right now, but I promise you, it is. You are beautiful. You need to remember that. Beautiful does not mean skinny, or bleach blonde, or anything specific. The actual definition of beautiful is pleasing the senses or mind aesthetically.

You can be a size two brunette and be beautiful, or a size 22 red-head and be beautiful. There is no specific look that you have to have to be beautiful. You just have to be you.

So chin up, darling, and smile. You are beautiful, and I love you. Hang in there. Things do get better. It may take a while, but it is worth it. I promise.
