Oval is pregnant! I mean, pregnant! PREGNANT.... Is she going to be okay? I kiss Ray lightly on the lips, and he smiles at me. We are sitting on a thick branch on an old, big oak tree looking at a crowd of maple trees.
"So many maples, which one do you like best?" I ask, resting my head on his shoulder. I feel the breeze and his hand run through my hair softly.
"This one right next to me, I think." He tells me, before kissing me on the head.
Squrriels run up the trees and across the forest floor, making the leaves rustle. The lazy afternoon sun shines and the leaves filter the sunrays. I fall asleep in Ray's arms, feeling like the luckiest person in the world at that exact moment.
I suddenly wake up, the sun had already setted, and Ray is looking serious. The breeze is no longer warm, more like a small wind, faster, fiercer, and colder.
"Oh, you're awake, I was about to carry you home." Ray looks at me, and smiles reassuringly. What's to reassure about?
"Why?" I rub the nap out of my eyes, and blink several times.
"Um, it's dark?"
"Oh, yeah." I look up, and see that dark clouds begin to fill the sky quicker than it should. I hear whispers in the wind, too quiet to hear, but definitely there. The air around us turns damp and unwelcoming.
"Maple," Ray says, frowning. "We need to get back home, now!" I look confused, but decide to leave the questions later. We climb down the tree, and by the time we get to the bottom, it is already pitch black.
