The Crickets Chirp in Unison

As I was walking in the park this evening after she left me here in my dark pit of despair there was only one thing that was constant, the intense roar of the crickets all around me. Those crickets were soothing enough to keep me from grabbing my phone and pleading with her as to what went wrong tonight, and to ask her why the things happened the way they did.

"My god I need a cigarrette right now," I thought to myself aloud right as the noise that made all the crickets in the park go silent. The burst of noise that echoed through the woods and across the lake sent a sinking feeling into my already pitted stomach.
