The rest of the day was like a blur. People would talk to me, but it only seemed to go into one ear and then out the other. At lunch I sat with my group of friends but i was mostly zoned out of it. To my luck, Dana went out for lunch with some of her friends, so that gave me a bit more time to kind of prepare myself to be humiliated. Most people were routing for Dana because that’s who obviously was going to win, but others really hoped that I would. Which is understandable since more than half of the school’s population hates her guts. After the lunch bell rang, is when I actually felt concentrated. I had to go up to the office, and ask them to open the storage room.
“I unlocked it for you,” The secretary said. I nodded to her and smiled, and I started walking towards the storage room
After fourth period, I went to my locker to grab my green science binder. It was the last class of the day. When I thought about this, my stomach began to tighten again.
“Be at the smoking area after, like, this class,” Paige at some point appeared beside me, and the look on her face said that she had been there for a while waiting for me to notice her. She had her hand on her hip. Her blonde hair was tied back into a pony.
“Sure thing,” I said with a smile. She starred at me, trying to spot some sign of fear, but I promised myself I wouldn’t let it show. I walked towards the stairwell, and went to my class like any other day.
As expected, the smoking area was packed with people. Like the teachers wouldn’t know what was going on. Lizzie was at my side, while Josh and Sabrinna had abandoned me. They probably just didn’t want to clean up the mess. As I walked, people stepped out of my way. It was almost like in that one story in the bible where Moses parted the Dead Sea with his staff thing, but instead it was just me walking through, and people either eager to see me get killed, or her to. I didn’t make eye contact with any of them. I just kept my eyes straight forward at my destination.
“HAHA, that’s so funny Paigey!” I could hear the witch say in her high pitched voice which was almost as fake as Paris Hilton’s face. Finally the last few people, who happened to be Bryce and Paul, moved out of the way, that revealed Dana sitting on the bench beside Paige. Donny was nowhere in sight, so I just assumed that Dana had already dealt with him. As soon as Dana saw me, she stopped laughing and pursed her lips. Her eyebrows narrowed as she looked me up and down.
I wasn’t wearing the most intimidating outfit. I was wearing my new light grey jeans with just a basic purple V-neck. My blonde hair was down and with a bit of a wave in it. She stood up and stretched out her arms, as if to intimidate me with her arm muscles and to show off her figure.
“I’m going to be fair,” she said with her snotty voice. She tied her black hair back into a pony. I laughed in my head a little at this, because this wasn’t going to be some epic battle or anything. She walked up to me and leaned over me. Dana wasn’t that much taller, but she still was which seemed to make her look fiercer.
“You get first punch you whore,” She said with a smile. There was a few “ohhhhs” in the crowd. Butterflies shot up in my stomach, and they weren’t the good ones. I took in a deep breath, and I looked her dead in the eyes. They were such a dark shade of brown they almost looked black. I felt a smile grow on my face.
I wound my fist back, and punched the right side of her face.
She recoiled back, not expecting that I’d hit her so hard.
“I’ve wanted to do that ever since I came to this school you slut,” I said. She wiped her face where I had punched, and I could see that it was already starting to swell.
That’s when with a robust force she charged at me. She tried grabbing my waist as to flip me, but I grabbed her hands, and pushed them away. From here it was like a game of mercy. We both were using such force to push each other’s hands back that I thought my wrist might snap.
I felt one of her hands start to give in a little bit. I pushed all my force onto it which made it snap back. She squealed in pain. I then threw her onto the concrete ground. I climbed on top of her. I could hear cheers in the crowd as I relentlessly started punching her face with my one fist, while holding her shoulder down with my other hand. I could hear her start to cry. I pulled my fist back for the last final punch.
That’s when I felt arms wrapping around my stomach, and someone pulling me. I was thrown off, airborne for only a moment, and then my face crashed onto the cement. I skidded about a foot. I lay there for a second, my vision blurred. I then shook my head, and got on my hands and knees. I felt some one kick me in the side. I gasped in pain and rolled onto my back. That’s when I heard someone scream. It was a high pitched squeal that only Dana could manage.
That’s when I blacked out.
