I waded into the surf, right where I had stood one year previously. The torrent of memories crashed through me like the waves that lapped hungrily at my feet. I don't even know how I got over here, the current was strong and I was tired. It was like Anthony wanted me to go. In fact, I can feel his presence as I stand here.
Today there is no one else here, just me and him. Or not, I don't know if he is here.
I know what I have to do, I think I have always known it.
'I love you Anthony.' I whispered.
His laughter echoes in my head as I wade further out until I am one step away from being dragged out to sea.
Maybe, when they finally recover Anthony's body, they will find mine beside him.
I hope so.
And I take that last step.
