Tie Me Up, Tie Me Downmature
I think everybody needs a kick in
the ass, one day or another. I mean, how smoothly does life pass us by, all the
while never skipping a beat, or dragging it's heels; and you never can hear it
coming or going. It's just...here and there, until it's nowhere.
And I think that's an important lesson, but not the kind you wanna learn,
because you can't learn that one. It's the kind of lesson you need to hear, and
wait for someone else to learn from their mistakes. Like when they finally
understand why they lived through the things they did, that's when they get it,
and that's when they learn it.
Maybe that's when we're supposed to be able to accept how little we have in common with Superman. Of what use is reason against the power of desire? It is a life in itself, so if you want to live, die in acceptance. Die in agreement that it's the only way stay alive. That's how you *really* live. But then, there's never enough time to read the fine print, is there. Time is the only resource that will never be extinguished as a whole...how ironic that it'd be the same essence no one can gather enough of.
Someone once said that time is like a river, that flows swift and sure in one direction. They also said this is wrong, that time is an ocean. I think they’re right; it is as beautiful as it is ruthless, and like time, there will always be a moment when you can set sail after the storms passed. If it is wisdom we must seek, what do we search for when it's found? What if this is it? What if I know what I'm supposed to and all that's left is for me to experience it one first and final time? After the discovery of time's ways, do we really expect to get out alive? After everything experienced, still we hold out hope?
What then? Gather up enough strength and perform another grand adventure? Or go home and revisit times when everything might still be saved? No. We're like children; naïve and arrogant, always rushing to undo our mistakes. Never facing the consequences of our actions... Maybe the best way to look at time is to look at the amount we're given. Looking at the entire spectrum of existence goes beyond anything we'll ever know. So maybe what we have is sort of like what we enjoy. Sort of like...pomegranates. They're messy, impossible to eat with dignity. *So* much work for a few small seeds. But isn't it the effort that makes them that much sweeter? And that's all I have to say about that, because the rest is silence.
