Beginning the Temporary Life
Safra snuffedthe candles in her room and lay down on top of her bed. She lay staring up at the ceiling watching the shadows play back and forth; swaying with the branches of the tree outside her window. Her eye's began to slowly close - she snapped bolt upright in her bed and stared out the window; there was a hooded man staring right at her, his shadow huge and terrifying against the ceiling. The street-lantern died. Safra could not see out anymore. Her heart as ice, she moved to the corner of the room and lay there with blankets wrapped around her.
The creature smiled with his bloodless lips and moved on through the town, street-lanterns losing their flames with his passing.
