Fate: Luckymature
"I wanna know what sort of creatures you are. Who knows? Maybe I'll even stop hunting you guys if I learn enough about you. Until then, I'll do whatever it takes to hunt down the bastards that killed my family" he said and I tilted my head a little, curious. "Wouldn't you wanna know more about the kind of thing that killed your family too?"
“I guess” I said suspiciously. “Why should I trust you, anyway?”
"I don't know, why should you?"
"That's not exactly convincing me there, buddy"
He shrugged. "You wanted to know why we're hunting you, and I gave you an answer. It's up to you to believe it"
I eyed him suspiciously, until he shut the slider in the door. I sat there, pondering whether or not to trust him. I mean, he seemed sincere enough but he could’ve been faking. At the very least, it was worth a shot. I mean, I wouldn’t give away any of the trade secrets or weaknesses, but it was worth trying to get at least one ally in here.
"Maybe we could strike up a deal" I said after a while. "Think you could get me some pants?"
He shoved a pair of pants through what I presumed was a food hatch and I managed to get them off, happy that I wasn’t entirely naked.
"So... What did you want to know?" I asked brightly.
"What kind of deal were you thinking of?"
I shrugged. "I was just in it for some pants. But I guess there's one other thing"
"What?”
"My pack's alpha... She's not to be harmed. I don't care if you have to shoot your own men in the foot, she goes safe and unharmed"
"Nope"
"Fine, I guess you'll never know a werewolf's true weakness" What a lie.
"Why should I trust you anyway?"
"I don't know, why should you?"
He laughed. "Shut up and stop bothering me" he said, shutting the hatch.
“Wolfsbane doesn’t work, y’know?” I said. Okay, so maybe that counted as one of the trade secrets. “C’mon, I was having fun”
“Shut up”
“No”
“I said shut up”
“And I said no”
"How about you cooperate with me from now on and I'll keep your alpha safe"
"Fine"
He opened the hatch thing again. "So tell me then, what are you guys weak to?"
"Silver's the main thing, but it varies from wolf to wolf. Like me, I barely react to it"
"What else?" he asked, waiting while I thought about it.
"Family bonds"
"You didn't seem to react all that much to having the others threatened"
"I have high school to thank for that"
"Guess we should've stuck with trapping the white wolf after all"
"Probably. Y'know, I never graduated. What about you?"
"Went to state college"
"Lucky"
I’d never cared much for education, but I’d wanted to make my mom proud by at least graduating high school. Instead, I had to make her think I’d been killed. Some son I turned out to be, huh?
"What's it like? Being... well, not human?"
"It's not that different, really. Not to me, anyway. I still feel human, I just have better senses than your standard human"
"Didn't sound all that great last night. The screaming was what attracted our attention, y'know. We thought someone was being attacked, but we couldn't find anything when we got there"
"Bad blood"
"Bad blood?" he asked, arching an eyebrow.
I nodded. "Blondie. I guess he's got what you could call bad blood. Pureblood and those turned by purebloods and so on don't feel any pain when they transform. By the sounds of it, he got himself turned by a real mongrel"
“Do people ever choose to be turned”
"I guess. I know you'd find a few in Germany"
"Why?"
"One of my pack was a medic in the world wars. Offered up the dying a chance to survive and make it home to their families"
"The white one?"
I shook my head. "A different one"
"Can't be much of a life, though, out living everyone you know"
I shrugged. "There's only two people I'll have to bury. I seem to have a habit of making friends with the immortal"
"I wouldn't wanna be so hard to kill. Imagine being suicidal and not capable of killing yourself"
"Which is why knowing vampires is a good thing. If a vampire bites a werewolf, the werewolf'll die. Same applies the other way round"
"What're all those scars you got from?"
"Torture"
"Guess that's why it's so hard getting you to tell us where your pack is then" he laughed.
"Yeah. You humans are nowhere near as bad as vampires at torturing poor innocent wolves"
"Don't let the others hear you say that" he said and I chuckled.
I heard someone else walk into the room and the hatch slid shut. Guess that’s it for today, then. Lucky, you better not be lying to me or I’ll rip your balls off and eat them in front of you.
