What is Tanka?

-Tanka style- These poems are frequently about love, seasons, sadness, with strong images and poetic devices haiku avoids. 5 lines, with lines 1 and 3 being shorter. Syllables per line are 5-7-5-7-7 respectively. -- defintion from "Poet's Market, 1998"

So basically:

First line: 5 syllables

Second line: 7 syllables

Third line: 5 syllables

Fourth line: 7 syllables
