It was a dark rainy night, and she was all snuggled up in bed with her new book and the electric blanket. Her housemates were both out of town for the weekend so she had the house to herself. This never happened and she was going to enjoy it.

She was just putting the bookmark in her book when she heard a knock at the door.

"Who would come around at this time of night?" she muttered to herself.

As it was dark and she was alone, she crept very quietly to the back door, slipped out and crept around the side so she could see who it was. The figure was waiting at the front door, and raised his hand to knock again.

Seeing who it was and getting a mischevious notion in her head, she suppressed a giggle and proceded to creep out past the garden. She crept right up behind him, and just as he turned around to head off, jumped out at him screaming.

"Aaaahhh!!!!!" she screamed jumping out at him.

"aaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!" he cried, eyes wide, stumbling backwards and falling over in his attempt to get away. Shaking with laughter she slowly lowered herself to the ground.

Slowly regaining his composure, he sat up and glared at her.

"That was a mean trick!" he muttered, "how did you know it was me?"

"That.. was the... funniest... thing... I have.. ever... seen!" she managed to gasp out between chortles. Holding her stomach she leaned over and laughed some more.

Watching her incredulously, he allowed himself a small chuckle, then a bigger one, until he was guffawing along right beside her.

"Do you want to come inside?" she asked when she had calmed down enough to form a full sentence.

"Sounds like a good idea," he agreed and helped her up. They went back around to the back and slipped inside.

"So what brings you over at this time of night?" she asked, "i didnt think you were going to be in town for another month or so?"

"Yeah, I-" he began but stopped as she was off giggling again, "um, are you ok?"

"Yeah," she responded, "you should have seen the look on your face!" she giggled to herself a bit more. Finding some composure, "sorry, you were saying?"

"Um, yes, well i actually-"

She yawned, "I'm so sorry! do you think we could talk tomorrow? I'm exhausted!"

"Of course," he said, "I'll take the couch?"

She nodded, "I'll get you some blankets."

The End
