“Excuse me?” I asked, baffled. Anne made her way back to our table, putting down the coffees for Simon and I, as well as Nova’s hot chocolate.
“Yeah, excuse me?” Nova echoed, looking at Simon as though he were insane. I knew that Nova was a pretty decent golfer- her dad used to take her to his tournaments when she was a kid- but I didn’t think she’d ever been mini-golfing in her life. “This is not our date. This is Mina’s date.”
“Do you really expect me not to accompany you for approval, Boo?” Simon asked me, rolling his eyes. “Remember what happened in eleventh grade? Do you want a repeat of that?” I ducked my head, concentrating instead on making my coffee absolutely perfect.
“Alright,” I said finally. “Fine. You can come, but you have to promise not to be too pushy. I think I really like him.”
“If that’s the case, then we don’t have any time to waste,” Simon said. “Nova, I’m sorry I pissed you off. I’ll get right to writing the paper for Italian, but in the meantime, we might need your help. It should be a casual social outfit, giving Mina the ability to move, but also looking adorable for Ezra. Do you have something like that?”
“I have a million things like that,” Nova said, as Anne placed our food in front of us. “Eat up quickly; we need to start getting ready.”
