Julie Oliver

The taxi stopped outside a large grey brick building with lattice windows. I got out my purse and paid the taxi driver, who helped me with my silver-grey case.  Luckily I could click the handle and just pull the case after me so I did. As I stood uncertainly, just outside the building, a woman with light brown hair tied up in a knot above her head came hurrying towards me.

"Are you new?" she asked.

I nodded.

"What's your name and what powers do you have?"

"My name is Julie Oliver and..." I hesitated.

"Yes?" she prompted.

"Well I'm kind of unusual in that I have a multipower, you know the ability to use two powers simultaneously. In my case, my power is tele-empathy."

"Ah I see." She paused. "Yes, there are quite a few people like you Julie." She smiled at me. She then handed me two pieces of card with paper stuck to the front. "One is a map of the school and the other is your schedule. Everyone has English, Maths, Science and History of course and then you have four classes corresponding to whatever powers you possess. In your case you have two Telepathy classes and two Empathy ones, though it is brilliant that you can combine the two. Most people only have one or the other."

I took the two pieces of card. "Thanks Miss...?"

"Miss Hewitt. By the way I'm an empath myself and will be teaching you to control empathy."

I held out my hand enthusiastically and she shook it. "It's great to meet you Miss Hewitt."

"It's great to meet you too Julie. Oh here's your room key - you're in number 129. Your case will be brought up seperately so don't worry about that."

*

I unlocked the door of room 129. It was a very pretty room with two twin beds and an arch with a curtain in front of it led to a nice bathroom. complete with shower. There was a sofa and two armchairs as well and a mirror was behind the door.  Two chests of drawers, two wardrobes, a radiator and two windows with curtains completed the room.

After  unpacking my things and putting them away carefully in the empty chest and wardrobe, I stepped in front of the mirror and had a look at myself. I was always told that for a sixteen year old I was very beautiful but I didn't let it go to my head. The girl staring back at me out of the mirror had very long, straight, dark brown hair and emerald green eyes. She wore a hairband today along with typical black school shoes, white socks, a light blue dress and a white cardigan.

I was distracted by a noise behind me. A girl with deep brown eyes and long gorgeous straight black hair came into my room.

"Hello", she smiled. "I'm Selina Randall."

Turning away from the mirrror, I held out my hand. "It's lovely to meet you. I'm Julie Oliver."

We shook hands.

"Are you my roomate?" I asked.

Selina nodded. "What's your power?"

"I have a dual power" I confessed. "Tele-empathy".

"That's cool. I have a multipower too. "Chrono-telekenesis".

I looked puzzled. Selina explained.

"Telekenesis as you probably know is the ability to manipulate and control objects with your mind".

"Yeah"

"Well I also possess the time manipulation ability and so chrono-telekenesis is being able to manipulate time while performing telekenesis."

"Wow"

"Yeah."

Just then the bell rang. I glanced at my schedule.

"There doesn't seem to be a class now?"

"No, that's the supper bell.

"Good. I'm starved."

Selina laughed. She waited until I came out before locking the door and pocketing her key. She then took my hand and led me down the spiral staircase with the golden rail.

The End
