"I LOST 5 POUNDSSSSSS!", Thea shouted inside my room as she stepped on my weighing scale.
"Good for you!" I said as I was searching for clothes inside my closet. Summer is already over, and school starts tomorrow. So we help each other out in choosing outfits to wear for the first day of school. Typical girl stuff.
"How 'bout you? Come on! Step on it!" Thea dragged me towards the weighing scale, since I didn't want to see my weight. I might have gained weight rather than lose some.
I stepped on the scale looking straight on the wall as Thea watched the numbers increase.
"HEY. Not bad! You lost about.... 3 pounds!"
"WHAT?! Only 3?!"
"Well, what do you expect? You and Jeff keep on having dates", she teased as she looked outside of my window looking over at their apartment.
"WE NEVER HAD A DATE, okay? We've been through this!"
"Yeah, whatever. So... does it bother you that they just live a few steps away from your house? You know he might be watching you every time you go outside or something. Maybe even uses binoculars!"
"ARE YOU CRAZY?! That is.. way creepy! He's not as crazy as you."
"You'll never know. Hey, why did they move again?"
"They have some problem with the loan for their house. You know, financial stuff. But don't worry, they'll get their house back", I said feeling nervous, since I wasn't really sure that they would. I couldn't really keep Jeff's secret now since all of us knew that he moved houses.
"That sucks, huh?"
"Yeah... I know."
"Good thing you're helping him out!" I looked back at her, trying to look if she was hiding some hidden meaning from what she just said. "Hahahahhahaha! I know you guys spend a lot of time together now, okay? Don't hide it from me."
Thea was silent, but she kept looking at me, smiling. She looked like she wanted to say something, but tried hard not to. But, after a few seconds she spoke. ".....oooooh Leena!!! I'm sorry, but I really hope you guys get together! We all do!"
"WHAT?! You all do?"
"YEAH! Aries, Zander, and even my brother! But when I talk to him about you guys he doesn't talk a lot. He's a little quiet than usual. Weird. But.... ughhhh! Can't you guys just be together already? We can feel the tension between you guys every time we hang out!"
"THEA. PLEASE. STOP. Stop it, okay? I told you, we can't. Yes, I do like him. But, no!" I shouted since there was no one else in my house than the two of us. "And I don't want to talk about it anymore, okay?"
"Okay. Fine. But... do you think he has a girlfriend?"
"What? Well... no. I don't think so...?" Then suddenly, I realized that there could be a possibility that he has one, especially since I saw his face when I asked him about the photo collage of his friends, and I saw this one photo big photo where he was with a girl.
"Yeah, I guess. I mean, If he had one, he could've told us by now, right?"
"True. Maybe your brother knows. Don't you hear anything from him?"
"No. When Jeff comes in our house, they lock themselves in his room."
"Oh. Oh well."
"It bothers you, huh?" She said with a sneaky grin.
"NO. I told you, I don't want to talk about it anymore. I hate talking about this stuff. NOW, back to business. Pants, plaid blouse, tank top and Keds? Or, pants, my Beatles tee and doll shoes?"
"You sure you don't want to wear a skirt?" I gave her an angry look. I never liked wearing skirts in school. So much effort. ".. okay, that's a no. Plaid blouse! But that's a nice Beatles shirt though. Where'd you get it?"
".......he gave it to me." I said, whispering.
"What?" Thea sounded confused, probably because she didn't understand what I was saying.
"... he gave it to me!"
"OH. MY. GOD. Seriously?"
"Mhhhmmm. So, what are you gonna wear?"
She looked disappointed since I changed the subject. "Well, skirt, crop top and then Keds."
My eyes widened. Is she serious? "Are you serious?!"
"YUP. Gotta boost up your confidence, bro! .... Oh hey! Is that my brother?!" She shouted as she looked through the window. I looked outside and I saw John walking towards the apartment.
"Oh yeah. What's he gonna do?" Then suddenly, I realized behind him was a tall blonde girl wearing a very pretty summer dress and heels. "... And who's that?"
Thea was speechless too. "... yeah. Who is that?"
"Does your brother have a girlfriend or something?"
"Not that I know of." We both stared outside looking at them, both clueless of what was going on. We watched them go straight towards the door. As it opened, we saw Aunt Manna greeting them and let them in. The girl walked inside first, and as John went inside, he looked back towards us, towards our house. Thea and I both stepped back immediately.
"Oops. Do you thing he saw us?!" Thea said while she looked like she was panicking.
"I don't think so. I hope not. We'd look like spies or something. The struggle of living right across each other ey?"
"Do you recognize her or something? Because I don't."
I stayed quiet for a moment, searching and thinking about all the blonde girls I knew at school or at the neighborhood or some other place. She did look a little familiar. Maybe she was... she looked like....
"Well? Do you know her?" Thea asked me again, since I didn't answer her the first time. I just looked straight outside the window.
... she looks like the girl! The girl in the photograph, I think? Yeah.... she looks a lot like her, I guess? Hundreds of thoughts and ideas went scrambling inside my head now, but I didn't want Thea to know. I didn't want to jump into any conclusions. "No. No, I don't recognize her from anywhere."
"Hmm, weird. I'll just ask John later."
