I've never liked flying. But I actually feel safe on top of Sparky. Her flight is smooth and relaxing, like sitting on a porch swing. Even the little children don't seem afraid. Janice... well of course she's a little green. I wouldn't expect anything else from her.
Ryan nudges my shoulder and points to the ground. There are half a dozen Jacks running around down there, looking up at us and hissing. Sparky looks down at them and roars like a lion. But it's much louder and so frightening the Jacks cower down and run away. I can't help but laugh.
"Ryan!" Janice screams, "Where are we going?"
"I don't know." He smiles at her and just strokes Sparky's neck.
"Can we please land?" She looks like she could throw up any second.
He shrugs and pushes a bit on Sparky's neck. She growls at him.
Ryan seems taken back. He takes some of her feather's in each hand and tugs on the left side of her neck. She looks back at him with her violet eye and growls again. I can almost imagine her saying, "You don't control me. Be happy I just saved your life."
Ryan lets go and sits back. Janice calls to him over the wind, "Can't you control your pet?"
"Sparky is not a horse, Janice. You didn't happen to hear her growling at me, did you?"
I look at Janice and see the blood drain from her face, "So, you're saying this beast thinks it's the boss of us?"
Ryan laughs, "Pretty much. I personally wouldn't go against her will."
Janice shuts up, so I say to Ryan, "Where do you think she's taking us?"
He shrugs, "I don't know. But Sparky is smart. She can keep us safe."
