"I Don't Love You"
Hand in hand they walked. Down the school hallway, down the street, in the library, anywhere. They could not be separated. It was complicated, yet simple. They loved each other more than anybody else knew or could imagine.
They were in a Taco Bell talking about how their day was. She told him how horrible everybody was to here. They treated her like she was a rag doll. They made fun of her, teased her, and bullied her. He comforted her by rubbing her back and kissing her forehead.
For a week, she kept complaining to him. He did the same thing to comfort her every time, unaware that somewhere in his soul, a spark was about to go off.
While they were in the school gymnasium, her ex-boyfriend walked up to them and told them how there love was nothing more than desperation. Her current boyfriend knocked her ex out and got suspended.
She complained to him more and more that month. He did the same comforting routine. She mentioned that somebody fondled her. The spark went off.
He walked into school the next day with his father's shotgun and a backpack full of shells. He started the shooting during the middle of the first hour class. The first shell hit her ex in the forehead, killing him instantly. He told the body, "Nobody touches my girlfriend like that."
He walked into the cafeteria and shot at a few more students. One hit his ex-girlfriend in the chest and killed her. Another hit a jock in the leg.
In the hallway, he confronted his girlfriend. She was crying. "What's wrong?" he asked. She looked up at him, tears running down her face like a waterfall. "After this, I don't love you anymore," she said through her sobbing. Heartbroken, he took the shotgun, placed the end under his chin, and fired. His face was gone, and his life was broken.
