When mum and dad had finally left, after packing what seemed to be their whole bedroom – honestly you would think they were going away for a month the amount of stuff they had packed, I turned to face Zara and Libby who were both looking up at me through their hazel eyes.
Zara and Libby are my two younger sisters who are identical twins, and I was often given the job of babysitting them when my parents went out.
“So, what do you two want to do until bedtime?” I asked trying to sound excited and up for anything, they started bouncing up and down and chanting “Hide and Seek, Hide and Seek, Hide and Seek!”
I rolled my eyes, why did I even bother asking them what they wanted to do, it was always the same, “You're on” Libby screeched before grabbing Zara’s hand and running off to hide.
I put my hand over my eyes and began to count in a loud voice,
“I’m counting to 10 so you'd better hide quick!” I shouted
From the depths of the house I heard muffled squeaks and the girls ran to find somewhere decent to hide.
“One, Two, I’m coming for you!”
“Three, Four, Five.”
More muffled screeches followed five, I pulled my phone out of my pocket to check the time, it was only half 6 – I wonder what Joshua is doing at the moment.
I was getting bored of hide and seek already, but it’s the girl’s bedtime soon, “Eight, Nine, Ten, coming ready or not!”
I climbed up the stairs, I knew where they would be hiding – I shuffled slowly towards the cupboard at the back of the girl’s bedroom and rattled the door. “I wonder what is in here, I smell sisters!” Giggles could be heard from inside, I pulled open the door and saw Libby and Zara curled up in balls shaking with silent giggles.
“I found you! Right you two Bedtime!”
After half an hour of dawdling and arguing, I finally managed to get the girls to bed, and flopped down on the sofa.
Time seemed to be moving ever so slowly it was only 7, Joshua wouldn’t be here for another 3 hours
I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and rang my friend Rachel,
“Hey Rach, its Meg I was just wondering if next weekend you fancied going into town and getting some stuff for prom, it feels like ages since we had a girly weekend.”
“Yeah that sounds great, I can't wait for prom I’m guessing you're off with Joshua?”
“Yeah, prom is on the same day me and Joshua got together last year, what a great anniversary it will be!”
I lost track of time having a major catch up with Rachel, I hadn’t seen her in absolutely ages, of course she had been at school but it just wasn’t the same as going into town – plus she was in different lessons to me!
“Oh Rach, I’ve got to go, Joshua has just pulled up on my drive, see you next Saturday hunni, bye”
I hung up quickly and checked the time on my phone – right on cue.
I opened the door to find Joshua standing there, one hand behind his back and a smile on his face, a smile I knew well.
“What have you been buying now?” I could tell he had been shopping and bought me something for getting a conditional for my top Uni choice, as he was grinning like a Cheshire cat.
He pulled me into a passionate kiss, moving me backwards so he could shut the door behind him with his foot.
“I love you so much, Meg you are my forever” Joshua whispered in my ear as our lips parted then from behind his back he pulled a black box.
He knelt down on one knee and pulled open the box to reveal a sapphire ring, it sparkled in the light reflecting off it, giving off a blue gleam which seemed to shine like the sun.
“Megan Jane Hughes, Will You Marry Me?”
