Chapter 4Mature

Skye went up to Miriam’s door and knocked, “Go away!” Miriam shouted.

Skye opened the door anyway, “Look, I don’t want to be home just as bad as you don’t want me here. We both have to deal with this. Mom is making me go to school all of first semester with you and Chester! I haven’t been in a public school since sixth grade. I have to give up being Skye Dwight for a whole eighteen weeks!”

“I don’t care! All I can say is don’t talk to Conrad, don’t look at Conrad and most of all don’t talk to me! Now get out.”

“Oh, is Conrad your boyfriend? You have to give me all details! Is he a good kisser? Have you had sex?”

“Get out, Aggie!”

“Ugh, fine!” Skye went back to her room. “Aggie? No one has called me Aggie since like sixth grade!” This was all so weird to her. She changed her name three years ago, and it had to be temporarily changed back.

“Hey, can I come in for a minute?” Chester walked into Skye’s room.

“Yeah, sure,” she replied.

“I know this is going to be hard for you, it’s going to be hard for all of us. But you can’t just go barging in on Miriam’s personal life like that. Especially anything that has to do with Conrad.”

“Why not? She’s my sister! I deserve to know who she has or has not been sleeping with.”

“You haven’t cared for three years, Aggie! You’ve been too busy with all the concerts and parties and CD signings to even care about your sister any more. When this whole thing started with Skye, Miriam was perfectly okay with it. You two were closer then ever until the fame started getting to your head!”

“What are you talking about, Chester! The fame never ‘got to my head’. I acted the same as everyone else!”

“Yeah, you acted like everyone else as in P!nk, Miley Cyrus, Hillary Duff or Selena Gomez. You stopped acting like Agatha Hawkins. And when she was gone, so was Miriam. She wanted Agatha as a sister, not Skye. So you can’t come back after three years and think nothing has changed. A lot has changed, Aggie. And you can’t take back the things you did to hurt your only sister. But you can prevent things from getting worse in the future,” Chester said. After he got no response from Skye, he said, “Well, goodnight,” and walked out, closing the door quietly behind him.

Skye knew he was right, but she didn’t want to admit it. She knew she had been a horrible sister and wanted to do nothing but regain the strong relationship her and her sister once had.

The next morning, Skye woke up extra early to cook breakfast for her family. She made chocolate-chip pancakes, blueberry muffins, scrambled eggs, turkey bacon and sausage. She set up five plates at the kitchen table and waited for her family to wake up. She kept the oven on low and popped the food inside of it as it was getting cold from sitting out.

Nicole woke up first and as she was walking downstairs she said, “Wow, it smells so good in here!” she looked over at her youngest daughter getting the food out of the oven. “Did you do all this, Agatha?”

“Yes, Mom, for you, Dad, Chester and Miriam. It’s a ‘thanks for taking me in’ breakfast,” Skye replied.

Nicole and Skye both heard clapping from behind them. They looked over to see Miriam standing on the top of the stairs clapping her hands, “Bravo! Little miss teen pop sensation, Skye Dwight, is also a magnificent ass-kisser!” Miriam said sarcastically.

“Miriam Christine, watch your language!” Nicole exclaimed.

“Seriously, Nicole? Now you want to start acting like a mother? I’m not buying any of this shit! You just want to be able to go to your stupid little concerts. Sad as it is, Nicole and Raymond might actually be stupid enough to buy this! Hopefully they will so you could get the hell out of my house!” Miriam turned around and went back into her room, followed by Chester.

“C’mon, Miriam, give Skye a chance!” Chester begged.

“Skye? Her name is Agatha!”

“Whatever her name is, please just stop it! She’s being decent, but you aren’t. You’re acting like a stuck up, snobby bitch. You’re almost worse then her.”

“Chester, she’s not my little sister any more! She looks different, acts different and even talks different. My sister would never be caught dead in that outfit she wore yesterday! She’s not my sister, she’s a zombie!” Chester gave Miriam a funny look, “That’s what they turned my baby girl into; a zombie! And I just want my sister back.”

The End
