"He has been terribly poisoned," Ludok said as he and Silvernist watched as Ariana knelt by the pale, ill prince. She took his hand and squeezed it softly.

"Will he be alright?" Silvernist asked and stared longingly at the limp figure.

"He's a little better. But not enough to move. The poison spread through his body and effected his muscels." Ariana glanced at Silvernist. She saw that she had tears in her eyes. Just looking at her brought tears to her own.

"He can't die. He just can't," Ariana whimpered. She threw her arms around Silvernist and squeezed her tightly. She hugged her back. None of them noticed Ludok leave the cave. They stood there in the cave crying in eachother's shoulders.

Not long after, Ludok came back. But his face was pale and looked very nervous.

"What is it?" Silvernist asked. The elf sat himself on a miniature wooden stool and cuffed his chin in the palm of his hand.

"There are other people on the island. Two men, a young man and a woman." Silvernist gasped and turned to Ariana who sat by Arake's bed.

"It could be the others!" She said excitedly. Ariana gave a little smile.

"Where are they?" She asked. Her mood then dropped.

"That's the bad news. They were captured."

"Captured?" Ludok nodded.

"By the Gnoll King."

"Who's that?"

"The Gnoll King rules the island and lives in a swamp fortress. He hates humans"

"We should go rescue them." Ludok shook his head.

"Not yet. We will wait until your prince is healed," he replied and stood. "I will hunt some meat for dinner." The elf walked out of the cave.

Silvernist's head dipped. How long will it be until Arake is healed? By then the king and the others may be killed.

The End
